Grimes and Olivia Rodrigo Agree Wanting to Go to Space is a ‘Red Flag’
Olivia Rodrigo thinks it’s a “red flag” when men want to go to space — and Grimes agrees.
“This is a very oddly specific question that I ask guys on first dates. I always ask them if they think that they would want to go to space. And if they say yes, I don’t date them,” Rodrigo, 21, said in a recent video shared by Netflix promoting her new concert film, Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour. “I just think if you wanna go to space, you’re a little too full of yourself. I think it’s just weird.”
On Sunday, November 3, Grimes chimed in via X, writing: “It’s true. Only women should be going to space.”
The Canadian singer — real Claire Boucher — famously dated Tesla and SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk, on and off from May 2018 to March 2022. The couple share three children: son X AE-A-Xii, 4, daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, 2, and son Techno Mechanicus, nicknamed “Tau.”
In March, Grimes, 36, appeared to go public with EDM artist Anyma, real name Matteo Milleri, two years after splitting from Musk, 53. “Beauty and the Beast,” she captioned a series of photos shared via Instagram. In the first pic, Anyma can be seen softly caressing Grimes’ cheek while they stare into each other’s eyes. The second snap is much more passionate and features the pair kissing while standing against a purple backdrop. The final picture is a full body shot that shows the couple standing close to one another while Grimes’ arm rests on his shoulder and she gazes up at him.
Grimes sued Musk in September 2023 over parental rights of their three children. The singer filed a “petition to establish parental relationship” in the Superior Court of San Francisco, per court records obtained by Us Weekly.
While the documents are sealed, a petition to determine parental relationship can be filed to request that a judge identify the legal parents of a child in the state of California. According to the California Courts website, the action is used by parents who are not married.
In July, Grimes’ mother, Sandy Garossino, pleaded with Musk via X to allow her daughter’s children to travel to Canada to see their gravely ill great-grandmother.
“I’m writing here as the only way I have to reach you,” Garossino wrote on July 27. “As you know, my 93 year old mother is now at end-of-life palliative care. She yearns to see and hold Claire’s children one last time. Especially the youngest, whom she has not yet met.”
“It was even more troubling to see you and [son X Æ A-Xii] on television at the Olympics in Paris yesterday, after your DC trip earlier in the week,” Garossino continued. “Where are the other children, and with whom? They are scheduled to be with their mother … I write with a grandmother’s plea, asking you to honour your agreement, return the children, and provide the documents they need to see their great grandmother before she passes.”
