Dell Drops an Extra $700 Off Alienware’s Slimmest and Lightest Gaming Laptop – IGN

Starting this week, Dell is offering the Alienware x14 R2 RTX 4050 gaming laptop for only $999.99 after a $700 instant discount. This is the lowest price we’ve seen for Alienware’s slimmest and lightest laptop. The x14 features premium materials and excellent build quality, a gorgeous display, and capable gaming performance, although you’ll have to keep your expectations in check given the use of low-powered components.

Alienware x14 R2 RTX 4050 Gaming Laptop for $999.99

The Alienware x14 is an exceptionally thin and light gaming laptop, measuring 0.57″ at its thinnest point and weighing in at only 4.22 pounds. The chassis is almost entirely constructed of metal; the combination of anodized aluminum, stainless steel and magnesium alloy ensures structural rigidity and the nano beadblasted silver finish exudes quality.

This particular configuration features a 14″ 2560×1600 QHD+ display, Intel Core i7-13620H CPU, GeForce RTX 4050 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-4800MHz RAM, and a 512GB NVMe SSD. The 13th gen Intel Core i7-13620H has a Turbo Max Frequency of 4.9GHz with 10 cores, 16 threads, and a 24MB cache. It’s not the most powerful processor, but this low voltage CPU is still more than adequate for gaming without hogging power better served for the GPU.

The RTX 4050 is roughly similar in performance to the RTX 3060. It’s worth nothing that the RTX 4050 GPU in this laptop has a max TGP rating of 85W. That’s slightly throttled compared to the max TGP rating of 110W you’ll find in the larger Alienware x16 laptop. Even so, it’s capable of running older or non-demanding games comfortably, especially if you drop the resolution down from QHD+ to 1080p. Some examples include League of Legends, Starcraft, Fortnite, and Genshin Impact. Using my optimized settings, we can hit 60fps in addition to superior image quality and performance to the PS4 version.”

On the other hand, if you wish to run super intensive games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Black Myth: Wukong, especially at higher resolutions, you’d be best served going with the more powerful Alienware m16 laptop, which is also on sale.
