This week of brilliant gaming bargains continues, and, as always, it’s my absolute pleasure to lead you to a great game worth buying for way less. Personally, I’d gravitate towards that “Masters of RPG” Humble Bundle for sheer hours-per-dollar value. I also honestly think Indy and the Great Circle is the rarest of museum pieces—a game actually worth paying full price for (so getting it for less is a no-brainer). Failing that, just score Suicide Squad for 19 bucks. Surprisingly ok with mates (but only at that price).

In retro news, it’s been 25 years since I prepared for my finest hour in Medal of Honor, a pivotal PlayStation FPS that’s worthy of salute. After reinvigorating WWII in popular culture with Saving Private Ryan, Spielberg and DreamWorks Interactive used that beachhead to conceive, produce, and write a more kid gloves companion piece game. End result: they triggered a decades-long landslide of shooters themed on virtually every major battle undertaken by The Greatest Generation (not to mention the unintended creation of the rival Call of Duty franchise). Personally, I adored the Nazi-blasting, disguise-wearing OSS saboteur antics of MoH. Few games of the era looked, felt, and sounded this cinematic. A true classic.

Take my word for it; cutting edge visuals for ’99.

It Takes Two

It Takes Two

It Takes Two is a spectacular co-op adventure that lays down a path of great gameplay ideas and uses it to play a giddy game of hopscotch. It’s beautiful, breakneck-paced, and bubbling over with creativity, and playfulness.

LightSync is an affordable gaming mouse that keeps it small and simple, but it doesn’t give much cause for excitement. Expect a decent sensor and RGB lighting, but nothing mind-blowing beyond that.

Elden Ring

Elden Ring

It is no exaggeration to say that Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s largest and most ambitious game yet, and that ambition has more than paid off. Elden Ring is a 10/10 masterpiece that we’ll be looking back on as a game that moved a genre forward.

City: Police Academy

City: Police Academy

When Lego said they were going to make a police academy set, I thought the build experience would be fun and exciting, you know, like that movie, “Spaceballs”. But instead it was painful and disturbing like that movie “Police Academy”.

This holiday season, I’m doing something different with the LEGO section. In Mathew Manor, my sons and I are racing LEGO Advent Calendars—we open our respective ones daily and compare the mini-prizes for “Coolness” and “Actual Xmas-ness”. Winner gets extra eggnog.

If you’re also feeling festive, here are the cheapest prices for the three calendars we’re using. Or just live vicariously through us.
