Crowds take to Windsor riverfront for annual midway

Crowds of all ages took to the Riverfront on the weekend for the annual World’s Finest Shows midway.
They got thrills on rides such as the Scrambler, the swinging boat ride, the breath-stealing
Cannon Ball drop and the Ferris Wheel.
Ice cream, funnel cakes, plunkin’ potatoes, and corn dogs provided midway goers with the energy to keep them going.
Carny worker Sean Lonergan said his Bottle Up booth, in which a fishing rod and ring attached to a string is used to stand up a small pop bottle on an angled platform, was making an appearance after being tucked away for about a decade.

After dropping the bottle on the first try, he said “you won’t see that again.” Indeed, he got the bottle upright on the second try. “You have to be patient,” he said. “Most people go too fast.”

The midway runs at the waterfront until June 29. It runs again at the Essex Funfest July 3-6.
