AU Deals: The Deepest Discounts on Sports Games Yet, New Lows for Final Fantasies, and More! – IGN

Welcome back to yet more savings in the most discount-laden quarter of the year. I’ve been scouring the stores for nothing but the best games (actually) worth owning. Honestly, you’d best get in quick, because some stock levels are depleting almost quicker than I can find, type, and click “publish article.”
In retro news, I’m remembering the 21st birthday of Manhunt, an especially notorious Rockstar Games production. Originally rated MA15+, it was soon RC’d (refused classification), and anybody caught selling it faced an $11,000 fine or 12 months in the slammer.
Personally, I wasn’t stoked with the clunky controls of this stealth-heavy, arena-to-arena murder-fest. But I was struck by its bleak nihilism, low-quality videotape aesthetic, and the innovative option of playing it with a USB mic headset. Being able to lure prey over with your voice and having snuff director Lionel Starkweather (Brian Cox) chortling in your ear was creeptastic stuff.

MyCareer remains the most important mode in the series, and I love that the Heart of a Dynasty storyline and the return of Streetball bring a sense of nostalgia and highlight a renewed focus on single-player experiences.

This introduces some interesting new features, particularly the fast-paced and compelling Rush mode, but much of the package beyond that feels overly familiar.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth impressively builds off of what Remake set in motion as both a best-in-class action-RPG full of exciting challenge and depth. 9/10, amazing.
